Jake Paul 'banned Tyron Woodley from wearing Grant gloves' used by Floyd Mayweather and Wladimir Kli

Tyron Woodley was forbidden from using Grant gloves for his fight with Jake Paul back in August, an investigation has determined.

The YouTube star will face Woodley yet again in a rematch on December 18 after Paul’s original opponent, Tommy Fury, pulled out through injury.

Having already knocked out Ben Askren in April, the 24-year-old then scored yet another win against a former UFC welterweight in the summer in his home town of Cleveland, Ohio.

Paul was hoping to fight former Love Island contestant Fury in Tampa, Florida to round off 2021, yet injury has curtailed those plans. Instead, Woodley will get a second shot after tasting defeat.

In his first fight with ‘The Chosen One’, speculation was raised about a possible ‘No Knockout’ clause – despite there being no evidence of such illegal activity.

And a report from USA Today has determined this was in fact true and that the only request from Paul and his team was that Woodley did not use Grant gloves in the ring.

Woodley instead opted for classic Everlast gloves instead and Paul had his own custom-made Grant gloves, as frequented by legends such as Floyd Mayweather and Wladimir Klitschko.

It affords fighters more protection around the wrist, but has less padding. The entire investigation concluded the language used in the contract was deemed standard and Paul was rightly cleared of any wrong-doing.

This did not stop one of many of Paul’s detractors, Claressa Shields, from demanding answers about the accusations, as she said: “Jake Paul, answer the one question.

"Do you or do you not have a ‘no knockout clause’ in your boxing contracts? You are the biggest con artist boxing has ever had. Exposed, you are a con artist.”
