Justin Bieber pays tribute to Pulse Nightclub victims during his Orlando show

Justin Bieber has paid tribute to the victims of the Orlando shooting during his performance in the city.

The singer’s tour hit Orlando last night and he honoured those killed during the horrific shooting at Pulse Nightclub by playing the names of the victims on screen whilst he sang ‘Purpose’.

Justin began the song by sitting on stage, singing to his Beliebers. Mid way through, he stood up and walked towards the screen. With his back towards the audience, Justin stood facing the names for the rest of the song.

After the names of the 49 killed at Pulse were shown on screen, a tribute was also paid to singer Christina Grimmie who was shot in Orlando a day before the mass shooting.

The ‘Sorry’ singer also addressed the audience directly and spoke about the grief and strength shown by the Orlando community.

“Just thinking of the families, I’m really feeling for them, ya know. It’s hard to really be happy in a time like this and it means a lot that you guys are out here and you’re smiling, trying to get away from it,” he said.

Justin continued by saying, “So much love goes out to you guys, to all the families. They can’t take down Orlando!”

Following the gig, Justin tweeted his appreciation and also sent a message of encouragement, simply stating: “Don’t ever be afraid to be yourself.” His message came alongside the hashtag #OrlandoStrong, which was also displayed on screen during his concert.

Justin previously addressed speculation that the concert would be cancelled, and instead showed his solidarity with Orlando, stating: “I stand with Orlando in support.”

For all those asking no I won't cancel the Orlando show. I stand with Orlando in support. Love you Orlando! #OrlandoStrong

A simple yet poignant tribute for two tragedies which are still very raw in people’s hearts and minds. It’s heart warming to see another famous face show their solidarity with the Orlando community following the devastating events.
